Trip 1353 DEC 7, Tairua Crag /Grade A
Tramp Leader : Lorna
Co-leader : Grant
This is a good walk on summer's day, as we follow the second branch of the Tairua River much of the time.
I don't think you will get across the mainstream without getting wet feet.
But we should be able to take a dip at some stage.
It is an in-out track all up about 16km. There are one or two tricky scrambles, as we gain elevation on the walk in.
The track was put in by rock climbers, if we are lucky we may see some in action on the day.
This description from a rock climbers website says it is " one of the North Island’s premier ‘adventure’ crags.
It is tall, steep, and has something for everyone – from moderate bolted wombles to hard trad routes."
Transport, $30 Members & $35 Non-members
