Mahoe Track

Will take an hour’s drive to get to the start of this track, either via Otorohanga or through the backroads of Pirongia Village, destination a small carpark on Gayne Road.  

We are intending to do a short section of Te Araroa Trail. Starting from the carpark, follow a farm road, hopping over a few stiles along the way, and on past an airstrip.  500 metres on beyond it, the track leaves the formed farm road for an old timber trail – we will follow this for a couple of hours.  It would be nice to get to Mahoe Road and check out the new shelter built for Te Araroa walkers, but we will see how things go.  Otherwise on a clear day, there are beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, an easyish farm walk mostly, with some wet track underfoot for part of it.  Expect to walk approx 4-5 hours.
