Trip 1319 : Blyth Hut - 'Love our Hut' weekend.

Trip 1319:  (Dates 1-3 November):  Blyth Hut - 'Love our Hut' weekend. 

We have signed up for the 'Love our Hut' nation-wide initiative instigated by FMC.  This means a spring clean and checklist for the hut.  We are planning to drive down Friday night staying in Ohakune.  Then walking into Blyth Hut Saturday, 2 November, staying the night, then heading back to Hamilton on Sunday. 

Blyth Hut, on Mt Ruapehu.  We access Blyth Hut via Old Mountain Road, through Ohakune.  We are keen to travel down Friday night to Ohakune and maybe staying somewhere Friday night, then heading into Blyth Hut the shortest route possible on Saturday 2 November - should take around 2 hours to get there.  We are planning to stay the night at Blyth Hut Saturday night.  Then heading back to Hamilton Sunday.  It should be a fun weekend and very cool to get behind this FMC initiative!  

Info on Blyth Hut:  Sits at altitude 1380 m.  Cost is $25 pp (need to purchase 1 x green ticket -Serviced Hut).  18 bunks.  No firewood at this hut.  A few people might take tents just in case.
