Trip 1315 : Pirongia Hut Overnighter : 5-6 October (Grade A) $30/NM$35 + Hut fee

This is a good tramp, especially if you have never stayed in our closest DOC hut. It's a nice modern hut, no fire, but well insulated and it gets all the afternoon sun.

It's about 4-5hr up with stops at the lookout points and the summit tower. Nice views over the Waikato. About the same time for the return trip but we will come down on a different track.

Pirongia always offers varied terrain-- ups/downs/tree roots/ muddy patches/ some scrambles and a couple of chains to make it interesting.
