 okings start 22 Jan to 16 Feb\n&nbsp\;\nWe park at the end of Puriri Valle
 y Road. We start the walk on a logging road\, later it becomes an old unus
 ed logging road with vegetation encroaching.&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;During the wal
 k we cross the Apakura stream several times. There are smaller side creeks
  we also cross\, some steep sections\, some tricky bits needing care such 
 as one creek crossing above a small waterfall.&nbsp\;\nNearer the top of t
 he walk we encounter large pampas\, long sleeves may offer protection. Eve
 ntually we reach the kauri slab hut known as Champion hut\, which is on pr
 ivate Maori land. All up it's about 7km one way\, with an elevation gain o
 f about 550m.\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;\nTransport\, $30 Members &amp\;
