We will then tramp to the Maketawa Hut via the lower bush trail (1. 5-2 hours). The hut is not bookable and requires visitors to pre purchase a $25 Serviced Hut Ticket or have an annual Backcountry Hut Pass. Tickets are available from Hamilton tramping shops- check availability by phoning. \nOn Sunday morning we will set off up the mountain in search of snow. If we are lucky it will be there\, but if not\, it will still be a great day on the mountain. At a pre-arranged time we will descend the mountain to ou r vehicles to return to Hamilton.\nThis trip will suit trampers who have g ood uphill tramp fitness and who are comfortable with overnighting in moun tain huts.
