  an old miners&nbsp\;track so it's a nice gradient. But it does criss cros
 s the Maratoto Stream so it is quite rocky and could be slippery. I recomm
 end&nbsp\;trekking poles.&nbsp\;\nAt the Golden Cross end is a picturesque
  tailings dam. The area has a lot of mining&nbsp\;history\, old starting&n
 bsp\;in 1895 and more recent in the 1980's.&nbsp\;\nIf we have time on our
  return some of the group may like to climb up Maratoto rock\, it is very 
 distinctive&nbsp\;thrusting up beside the river\, near our car park. We ca
 n go part way.&nbsp\;\n\nIf we do the Rock it will be about 6 hrs on track
 \, including lunch.\nAs per usual&nbsp\;we will depart Mill Lane 7:30. We 
 will decide nearer the time if we take cars or hire a van.&nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;
